February 1, 2006. BIOPETROL INDUSTRIES AG has laid the foundation stone for a new biodiesel factory in Rostock. After turnkey in Fall of this year, the facility will offer around 30 new jobs. Annual capacity will initially be 150,000 tons of biodiesel and 15,000 tons of glycerin. As of mid-2007 capacity will be expanded to 200,000 tons of biodiesel.
The official ceremony laying the foundation stone was attended by guests of honor Dr. Otto Ebnet, Minister of State for Economics in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as well as the Lord Mayor of Rostock, Roland Methling. Werner Klink, President of the Advisory Council of BIOPETROL INDUSTRIES AG, stated that the new facility in Rostock's Oil Port was a key milestone. Germany is already the European leader in the biodiesel industry and is further extending its lead. The Rostock Oil Port with its access to the Baltic, rail links and interstate, provides outstanding logistics and infrastructure for a biodiesel manufacturer.
Christoph Dicks, CEO of BIOPETROL INDUSTRIES AG commented: With the construction of the Rostock facility BIOPETROL INDUSTRIES is taking a further step toward realizing its ambitious expansion plans. We are devoting all our efforts to getting the facility ready for turnkey in early October 2006, while we are busy at the same time identifying new locations.
The key figures for the new facilities:
Production capacity to rise by a factor of five through
2008
BIOPETROL INDUSTRIES AG, with its head office in Zug (Switzerland) , with
its German subsidiaries, produces and markets prime-quality biodiesel and
pharma-glycerin. Its clients include the mineral oil industry and trade, large
fleet operators, public local transport authorities, the agro- and construction
industries. Moreover, pharma-glycerin is supplied to the pharmaceuticals and
cosmetics industry.
At present, at its facility in Schwarzheide in Brandenburg, BIOPETROL INDUSTRIES AG produces about 150,000 tons of biodiesel as well as 30,000 tons of pharma-glycerin each year. CEO Dicks comments in this context: By 2008, we at the BIOPETROL Group plan to achieve total annual capacity of around 750,000 tons of biodiesel as well as 70,000 tons of pharma-glycerin from four different production facilities.
By means of two additional planned facilities, the company will be accessing the key regions of Central, East, and North Europe and will be broadening its clientbase. We are certain the direct access to sea ports, waterways, railway links, and interstate as well as the proximity to the mineral oil industry will be a great benefit, Dicks continues. At the same time, the company will continue to focus on producing and marketing premium quality products. Our biodiesel meets the strict DIN EN 14214 norm and our pharma-glycerin, the production of which is coupled to that of biodiesel, has received certification as kosher.
