BIOPETROL initially creates 32 new jobs at the new biodiesel works in Rostock in the harbour area. Werner Klink, Chairman of the Board, said The Rostock works is a milestone for our company. It demonstrates that we deliver what we promised last autumn, when we went public. Within two years we positioned ourselves into a leading international supplier of high-quality biodiesel! Along with the first works in Schwarzheide, between Berlin and Dresden, the Group's combined capacity is now 300,000 tonnes of biodiesel. Klaus Henschel, Chief Executive Officer of BIOPETROL, added With another works that we are constructing in two stages in Rotterdam, we will increase our annual capacity in stage one to 750,000 tonnes and from 2008, in stage two, to 1,000,000 tonnes of biodiesel per year. Then we will have a very strong market position with an estimate market share of nearly 10% in Europe!
BIOPETROL relies for its production on direct links with seaports, waterways, the railway network, pipelines and motorways and on proximity to oil industry refineries. With connections to the Baltic Sea, the railway network and the motorway, the Rostock oil harbour provides outstanding logistical and infrastructure prerequisites for this strategy. The new works in Rostock, Henschel said, BIOPETROL ROSTOCK will contribute toward opening up important regions in Central, Eastern and Northern Europe and broadening our customer base.
