Gordon Mehrtens new CFO of
BIOPETROL INDUSTRIES AG

Zug, 19 November 2007. The Board of Directors of BIOPETROL INDUSTRIES AG’s appointed today Mr. Gordon Mehrtens as the company’s CFO with effect from 7 January 2008. Gordon Mehrtens, 44, is British citizen and began his career with BP in London in 1984 after studying mathematics. Following further jobs with BP in IT, Marketing and Finance in Hamburg, Antwerp and Brussels, he was Head of Controlling for BP (Switzerland) from 1995 to 2001. In 2001 he was appointed as CFO for BP (Switzerland) and BP Austria AG. In addition, he became a member of the Board of Directors of BP (Switzerland) in 2006.

Gordon Mehrtens is a proven expert in all finance and accounting matters. His knowledge of the industry and his connections with the mineral oil industry’s international network will also be of great advantage for BIOPETROL INDUSTRIES AG. “With Gordon Mehrtens we are strengthening and internationalising the company’s management team. He is joining the company at a time when we are just ahead of another step in growth, expecting more than half of our earnings outside the German-speaking countries in 2008. In addition, important decisions on business expansion plans are due to be made,” says CEO Klaus Henschel about the appointment of Gordon Mehrtens.

About the company:
BIOPETROL INDUSTRIES AG, based in Zug, Switzerland, produces and distributes via its German and Swiss subsidiaries biodiesel and pharmaceutical grade glycerine of the highest quality. Its customers include the mineral oil industry and oil traders, large fleet operators, public transport, agriculture and the construction industry. In addition, glycerine is supplied to the pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industries.

At present BIOPETROL INDUSTRIES AG has a production capacity of about 350,000 tonnes of biodiesel and 30,000 tonnes of pharmaceutical grade glycerine per year in Schwarzheide and Rostock. In Rotterdam in the Netherlands, BIOPETROL is building a works with a production capacity of 400,000 tonnes of biodiesel and 60,000 tonnes of pharmaceutical grade glycerine per year. By 2008, annual capacity is therefore to more than double to 750,000 tonnes of biodiesel in total. A further increase in capacity in Rotterdam is being considered, as are growth through acquisitions and the broadening of the product range to include more of the joint product glycerine.
