Mix more bio with your diesel
- Biodiesel from BIOPETROL INDUSTRIES is suitable for nearly
every diesel vehicle and withstands cold up to minus 20 degrees Celsius.
Its energy performance is almost equivalent to conventional diesels. Biodiesel
is even used in motor sport.
- Mixing is possible: Biodiesel for mixing with mineral diesel
must as a matter of principle comply with DIN EN 14214. No special approval
from the vehicle manufacturer is required for a biodiesel proportion of
up to 5 %.
- To use pure biodiesel, ensure that the diesel engine manufacturer
has given its approval (see UFOP list of approvals at www.ufop.de/biodiesel_fahrzeughersteller.php).
- Biodiesel is now sold at around 2,000 filling stations
in Germany (www.ufop.de/tankstellensuche_ergebnis.php).
- End consumers are also permitted to mix biodiesel with
mineral oil diesel in their own storage tanks. Since they are not resellers
they can also admix higher proportions of biodiesel than 5 %. To use pure
biodiesel, it is essential to follow the manufacturers' approval lists.
Background
Since the end of 2003 mineral oil companies have been allowed to mix up
to 5 % of biodiesel with their conventional diesel. The present ratio is 2.7
%. Under the EU directive no more is permitted as yet although this would
be qualitatively and technically feasible. Presently, an increasing of the
maximum admixture limit is being discussed in the EU, as envisaged in the
European Directive for the Promotion of the use of Biofuels for Transport.
According to this directive, biofuels are to contain 20% of regenerative energy in 2020, with a fuel part alone of 10%!
