The clear strategic objectives of BIOPETROL INDUSTRIES AG are based on a simple and easily understood vision:
the world needs food and energy.

BIOPETROL is a company trading ecologically and economically for an alternative energy supply. We are convinced that the world needs both: food and energy. The production of biodiesel as we have organized it is not a burden on the production of food. Quite the reverse: the two processes are closely associated. The more biodiesel is generated, the more high-quality animal food becomes available to the meat and dairy product industry. By crushing 10 tonnes of rapeseed, oil mills simultaneously extract 4 tonnes of rapeseed oil and 6 tonnes of energy-rich rape cake as animal feed.

But even the entire proportion of the of the oil plant harvest used in the production of biodiesel is absolutely insignificant; it is less than the annual fluctuation in harvest yields due to weather conditions. In 2007, for example, 83.5% (334 million tonnes) of the world's 400 million tonnes of oilseeds went directly into the food and animal- food industry, while 14% (56 million tonnes) went to the oleochemicals industry and only 2.5% (10 million tonnes) into the production of biodiesel.

The farmland available is not a limiting factor, after all. The EU pays premiums for set-aside agricultural land, and 35 million hectares of unused farmland is available in Eastern Europe. That is enough for the production of 15 million tonnes of biodiesel and meet the 17% blending quota for the whole EU. With better cultivation techniques, moreover, yields per hectare in Eastern Europe can be further doubled. The cultivation of additional oil plants on existing unused areas is the ecologically wise alternative to subsidized landscape conservation, which has no economic benefit.

By producing vegetable-based bioglycerine, BIOPETROL moreover contributes to a wide range of ecologically based chemical and pharmaceutical products.

We produce in the highest quality
Our biodiesel complies with the strict norms (DIN EN 14214), and its cold resistance goes right down to twenty degrees Celsius below zero. Compliance with this quality standard is monitored on all production locations by our own laboratory and by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Qualitätsmanagement Biodiesel [biodiesel quality management consortium] (AGQM). We produce pharmaceutical-grade glycerine by refining bioglycerine, a coproduct in the production of biodiesel. Kosher certificates all along the added-value chain support the worldwide sales of this pharmaceutical-grade glycerine.

We are forerunners for the energy solutions of tomorrow
Biodiesel is a high-quality, environmentally friendly fuel with high-tech characteristics and, as a coproduct of food production, extends a bridge to the regenerative fuel solutions of tomorrow. The climatic balance sheet of biodiesel is five times better than that of diesel from fossil sources. We use no palm oil or other vegetable oils obtained by the over-exploitation of nature. We are a member of the RSPO (Round Table of Sustainable Palm Oil) and the RTRS (Round Table on Responsible Soy), and we use certified raw materials from sustainable cultivation in the production of our biodiesel and bioglycerine.
